Having the opportunity to meet wealthy Chinese investors is definitely on the mind of many professionals in the Luxury Real Estate business right now. The slow domestic market and China's rapid growth make China a very attractive place to look for new buyers. Caimeiju wanted to see what kind of turn out an event like this could draw and which real estate companies would be there, so flew over to check it our first hand.
Braving the freezing Mid-December Beijing winter were an impressive list of exhibitor's from countries like Bulgaria, Australia, France, and of course, the U.S.


The bitter cold didn't keep the Hawaiian company's away from Beijing. Representing the Aloha State were Neal Norman from KOA Kauai, Cheryl Dillon and James Wright from Century 21 of Honolulu, and Johnny McElree from Century 21 All Islands.
California had a few great booths as well. Kim Markham and Mimi Takeuchi held down the fort at the very impressive Engel & Völkers exhibit. Kim gave a presentation to Chinese buyers about Real Estate in the Coastal Areas of California.

Representing Malibu was Agent to the Stars very own Chris Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker Previews International . Chris is know for his tremendous success in Southern California. He has been the #1 agent in Malibu since 2000, the #2 agent in Southern California, and the #2 Coldwell Banker agent internationally. He was also featured on the Bravo TV program Million Dollar Listing.
Manhattan Global Properties, Joan Brothers presented a workshop " 2008-2010: Trends of New York Luxury Real Estate". If you do a Google search on Joan, you will find several Youtube news interviews about her efforts in marketing New York Real Estate to Chinese buyers.
Mariana Saldana from UpTown Real Estate Group Inc. gave a great presentation explaining rights as a foreign property buyer in the USA. Mariana has a lot of experience selling luxury property to Mexican Nationals and wants to utilize her knowledge to gain exposure to buyers in China.
With any event there were mixed reviews, but overall I was told that many of the exhibitors were impressed and developed some solid leads. There were even a few contracts signed right on the spot!
